Live-streaming platforms can now watch ingest quality change as a broadcast happens
Stream Health gives platform teams a live view of a broadcast’s video and audio quality on the wire, sampling bitrate, framerate, and resolution every 10 seconds so quality changes show up while the stream is still running.
LOS ANGELES — July 27, 2026 — Qencode, a cloud video infrastructure platform, announced general availability of Stream Health on its live-streaming platform. The feature samples video and audio bitrate, framerate, and resolution every 10 seconds, so platform teams can watch a broadcast’s quality change while it’s still live.
Why It Matters
Most live-streaming pipelines give platform teams no way to see what’s happening on the wire while a broadcast is live. The first sign that something is wrong is usually a viewer complaint or a support ticket, well after the audience has already noticed. When a stream does degrade, reconstructing what happened means piecing together whatever the encoder logged on the sender side, hours after the fact. With Stream Health, platform teams see a broadcast’s quality the moment it’s live, and every sample is kept so a past session can be checked after the fact.
How It Works
Once a stream goes live, Stream Health samples the ingest feed every 10 seconds, reading video bitrate, audio bitrate, framerate, and resolution directly from the encoder. A summary panel on the dashboard shows the most recent values from the current session, and separate tabs chart each metric over the selected time range, so a drop or a spike stands out as a line moving the wrong way.
Every sample also lands in a Session Timeline, a paginated table sorted newest first, with the framerate column highlighted whenever it falls below the expected rate. The same samples are available through a live-stream health endpoint, which returns raw 10-second readings or, for a longer window, buckets averaged down to a readable number of points, plus a statistical summary across the whole range.
